I was talking to a client about her anxiety which she had noticed was worse that week. I asked her what menstrual cycle phase she was in. She replied that she had ovulated about a week earlier. LUTEAL! When we made the connection that her increase of anxiety may be caused by her shifting hormones she was shocked. Now she can start making decisions based off the information that she’s likely to have higher anxiety in her luteal phase or she can even use extra coping methods and different self-care.
