Ever wonder about your energetic levels throughout your cycle? Why you have super high energy one day, but then on other days can’t seem to get motivated?
One reason that this may happen is your hormones that day. When estrogen is rising, your energy does too. When estrogen falls, your energy tends to dip with it. Then there is progesterone, which can slow things down even when estrogen is climbing!
This information is a baseline… every body is different, so know that YOUR body is the ultimate authority. Use this baseline as an invitation to tune in and learn how each phase feels for you!
Menstrual Phase: Starts Low and Gradually Increases
Cycle Days 1-5
The first few days of your period you may have a super low energy level. The dip of estrogen that happens right before your cycle is still affecting you. Iron loss during menstruation can cause low energy along with various other symptoms. Also, any pain and cramping tend to make the idea of moving or doing anything fly right out the window. That said, a few days in you’ll likely feel your energy gradually increasing.

Follicular Phase: Medium to High Energy
Cycle Days 6-11
Your energetic levels during this phase tend to soar! You may be able to get things done faster and tackle physically challenging activities. You may feel able to work or study longer hours as you push to get stuff done.

Ovulation Phase: Peaking High Energy
Cycle Days 12-16
This is the peak of your physical and mental energy. The spike in testosterone at this time increase both your energy and sex drive! You may feel like you’re able to tackle the things you’ve been putting off or the things you’ve been nervous about. You’re likely to feel very adventurous in this phase.

Luteal Phase: Energy Dip
Cycle Days 17-28
Right after ovulation our estrogen quickly drops. We also experience a rise in progesterone. You may feel sluggish with a bit of brain fog. Combat this with eating healthy foods and getting plenty of rest. Early bedtime can be helpful during this phase. Use this time to finish up projects and analyze next steps!
