Period Books
Wild Power by Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer. This book was one of the first ones I read about cycles, and understanding how to sync your life with your cycle and not force, but to flow with it. Not only are these two leading experts in their field but they also created Red School, “to help women discover a new conscious way of living based on the power of the menstrual cycle.” I adore them, and they are a wealth of wisdom. This book is worth the read.
Moon Time by Lucy Pearce. Elegantly written and beautiful weaving of wise woman medicine, and science, this book feels as if a witchy art teacher sat you down around a campfire at summer solstice and shared what it means to have a cycle. It’s classic and gives you activities, journal prompts, and suggestions for getting to know your cycle and your cycling soul. It also just went through its 2nd edition edits to be more inclusive for the whole gender spectrum and new findings. Absolutely, it is a must read. You can grab it from her store for a signed copy or anywhere online.
Remember to check your library for these books! Requesting books at your local library can make it easier for people to access period education.
Manstruation is a guide to help you understand the four phases of the cycle and show you how to support people in your life during their cycles. This book is truly a field guide, and you will walk away with an in-depth look at the menstrual cycle, a deep dive into each of the four phases of the menstrual cycle and ways to support someone in your life when they are going through each phases. This book also interviews other men and non-menstruators about what they are doing to be good allies.
Red Thread by Aj Smit. With witty humor and charming honesty, Aj helps you navigate thirteen key areas of life like cycles, vulnerability, boundaries, and even what it means to be soul wild. For years, Aj has held virtual and in-person sacred spaces called Red Tents to encourage women to meet their truth, share their stories, and uncover the songs of their souls. Now, you can enter the Red Tent to learn about your cycle and your life.
Code Red by Lisa Lister is a spicier version of a look at your menstrual cycle with a tagline that reads, “Know your flow, unlock your monthly super powers, and create a bloody amazing life. Period.” You’ll listen to her share her experience with an endometriosis diagnosis and how she went from hating her cycle to living in sync with it with an endometriosis remission. She wrote this book so you could create your map and relationship with your cycle in a deeply rooted, embodied, magickally feminine way. Each phase has an archetype for you to lean into, like your Wild and Wise Woman for your Pre-Menstrual stage.

For your Period
Thinx. This was the first period underwear Aj on our team bought, and she loves them. Thinx pairs last for a long time, although she would recommend you always get the ones for the heavier flow days, as it doesn’t feel like the lighter ones give you much protection if your light flow day changes it’s mind.
Resuable pads
This specific set can feel a little bulky but absorb like none other and you feel dry. Great for heavy days, or when you can’t change often, or sleeping at night. These will also absorb sweat, so they are not a fan favorite to wear on hot muggy days if you are going hiking. For $14 for 5 pads, you can’t go wrong!
Period Products
LifeSync. Our new puberty curriculum, LifeSync is divided into four engaging modules, each covering important aspects of puberty and related topics. You will experience a range of interactive activities that can be done together at home, encouraging open conversations and enhancing the learning experience for you and your child. Discover the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty, understanding the body’s transformation. Learn about menstruation, hygiene practices, and how to embrace these changes confidently. Explore the significance of healthy eating habits and physical activity during puberty for overall well-being. Finally you’ll address important topics of bullying prevention, body autonomy, and developing healthy relationships.
Cycle circle. The Cycle Circle© was created to help you remember where you are in your cycle and communicate it clearly with your loved ones. It’s a window cling with a moveable arrow for easy access and a simple reminder of what you need in each phase. Grab yours here!
Menstrual Cups
Saalt Cup. I’ve been using Saalt Cup for years and it’s my absolute go to. Not only do they come in a multitude of colors, but they also have softer ones if you are more sensitive to cups, and they have menstrual discs.
The Diva Cup, was one of the first menstrual cups I remember seeing on the market, and now they even have reusable menstrual discs. The cup comes in three different sizes and is made of durable silicone. If you subscribe on their site you can get 10% off your order!
Period App
We’d be remiss not to add The Agenda. App here. You can track your cycle, plan your days, follow symptoms and more from our app. No ads, and it’s tailored just for you. Don’t have the app yet?
